Who are we?

The Trust was originally formed in 1993.  It is run by a small group of trustees dedicated to ensuring that Buckhorn Weston has a green space for villagers of all ages to enjoy and to provide a permanent site for events such as the Church fête, in addition to supporting other organisations in Buckhorn Weston.

The Trustees:

The Chair of BWVCT is Jeremy Owen.  The other trustees are Eddie Casey, Vicky Moore, John Tibbs and Will Munro.  We have an Honorary Secretary, Katie Owen to keep the Trust running smoothly.

A safe place for all:

The Village Green is there as a space for all to enjoy.  Therefore we ask that if you visit the Green you please take any litter away with you, and if your dog fouls on the Green that you remove it and place it in the dog waste bin provided.  If we all do this then it will remain a beautiful, clean and joyful place for us all.

Moving forward:

After a consultation in the village a grant was awarded and new equipment such as a zip-wire, bird’s nest swing, crawl through train for toddlers and a see-saw were installed in 2013.  In addition a fenced off wildlife area was set up, laid with meadow grass and flowers to help provide a dedicated and secure area to promote and support our wonderful wildlife.

Community Marquee:

The grant in 2013 also enabled the Trust to purchase a marquee.  The 8m x 4m is available for use, for a modest donation & damages deposit for any village event or private use by villagers.  For further information please contact Jeremy Owen.

The 100 Club:

The 100 Club is the Trust’s main regular source of income now in its 20th year.  Every year Eddie Casey opens and runs the 100 club where, as the name suggests, only 100 members are allowed.  For a £10 per annum entrance fee your name is entered into 10 monthly draws each with 3 cash prizes, with the larger Christmas draw being the most valued! Should you require any further information about the 100 Club please contact Eddie Casey on 01963 370 078

Fund Raising and Past Events:

BWVCT made a conscious effort to keep fund raising to a minimum in past few years due to the poor financial climate and the Church’s large requirement of funds for essential repairs.  However, we do face a large bill every year for insurance and ROSPA inspection as well as maintenance and routine upkeep.  As we do not charge for use of the Green any donations or fund raising ideas would always be gratefully received.

In the past few years we have had some wonderful events.  Perhaps the most notable of which were the John Watts Concert and Ceilidh (John was one of the original Trustees) as well as the Murder Mystery Night which was funded by a ‘Celebrate Your Space’ grant.

Get involved:

As a Trust we are galloping forward with potential.  However, to ensure that our beautiful green remains beautiful and well-tended the trustees would like others who enjoy the green to help us.  If you have just half an hour a month to spare please contact us.  We have many general maintenance jobs and inspections of the green to be carried out to ensure it is a clean and tidy place for us all to enjoy.  Whatever time you have to spare we will have a job that fits and will not go beyond the time you offer, a job that gives you fresh air and time to spend in the heart of our beautiful village.
